    Made In CS

A few weeks ago I pulled the trigger on 3 Made In CS pans. 8" and 12" frying and a Paella pan. I seasoned them per the instructions in the box and started using them. After a couple of uses, I noticed that the 12" pan became slightly warped. No grill or oven use, just bacon on an electric stove top. I contacted the company and found out that the instructional insert doesn't actually match the seasoning instructions on the site. But they agreed to exchange the pan (I haven't used the paella pan, but I really like the 8" pan). And the biggest upside is that they donate slightly used returns to habitat for humanity. This is the return label. Pretty cool!

Sorry Kev, we’re old. Trying to prevent strained necks.

Thanks Panhead John but a little too late. Oh, the pain in my neck.

Good to know - I have held off on buying another CS paella or large pan due to fear of warping.... I just can't bring myself to drop the coin on it. I know it is just the nature of 'thin' carbon steel and it can happen to any company, regardless of quality control.

Thanks for sharing your experience, let us know how the replacement does AND the paella pan when you use it!

FWIW - we've had one of their CS paella pan for nearly a year and used it a number of times. No warping.

          From the MadeŸin web site:

          https://madeincookware.zendesk.com/h...n-my-stovetop-

Carbon steel can warp if heated or cooled too quickly which happens most frequently on glass stovetops and induction ranges or by running a hot pan under the faucet. This is a result of the exceptional conductivity of carbon steel as a metal.

Tips to introduce heat to your carbon steel pan:
          • Heat your pan with low-medium heat
          • Introduce a fat, oil or protein and then add heat gradually
          • Never leave your pan exposed to heat for extended periods of time and never when empty
          • Use a burner that is sized appropriately to the pan and will heat the surface evenly

I can attest that the one I bought and subsequently returned (not Made In) was domed before I ever applied any heat.

The instructions on the card in the box with the pans are different. But I didn't do any of that anyway and it still warped. We'll see how the new one stands up. I really like the 8" pan so I hope it works out
