When I learned Smithey was offering a griddle that doubles as a lid for the No. 12 skillet, it went to the top of my must have list. Patiently waited for a free shipping offer and it came over the holiday weekend. It showed up yesterday.

I have to admit this is the first I ever heard of Smithey Ironworks. Do they come to you as smooth as they appear on their website? I have a Lodge 12" that is barely 20 years old and is just starting to get broken in. If Smithey ships them like that, I may be needing a new pan soon. Maybe a nice 8 or 10 inch...

Yes they do. And they are not the only US manufacturer of smooth cast iron. I also have a Field that is smaller and lighter, but the Smithey is like a piece of functional art. Finex, Stargazer, and Grizzly are some others.
