Mr. Smithey gets a new friend

When I learned Smithey was offering a griddle that doubles as a lid for the No. 12 skillet, it went to the top of my must have list. Patiently waited for a free shipping offer and it came over the holiday weekend. It showed up yesterday.

Well first thing is to get some more seasoning on it. I want to 'paint' it black...black as night...black as coal....I want to see the sun blotted out from the sky!

My only worry is this will be easier for Mrs. CN to swing...I might not have time to duck!

I have to admit this is the first I ever heard of Smithey Ironworks. Do they come to you as smooth as they appear on their website? I have a Lodge 12" that is barely 20 years old and is just starting to get broken in. If Smithey ships them like that, I may be needing a new pan soon. Maybe a nice 8 or 10 inch...
