I think the only thing I use my stove top for any more is boiling water for pasta, rice, mashed potatoes or eggs.

I've been using the C.I. pan and dutch oven on the stove top for years. the new griddle top i got a while ago, I went to place it on the stove. Said nope too heavy. Just takes one slip. Then I'm dead meat. So reserved for the grill.

Actually induction ranges are supposed to be cheaper to run than conventional electric or gas. From reviewed.com:

" 11. Is induction cooking more expensive?

Induction cooking is more efficient than gas or traditional electric cooking, so you can save on energy. What's more important—prices are coming down on induction cooktops and ranges, making them affordable to more families. We’ve seen some excellent induction ranges selling for less than $1,000. But if your budget is closer to $500, you'll need a wait a few more years."

Just another reason that I am never getting married. Honestly, she'd be sleeping in the garage before my cast iron would. (Also, another reason why I am not married)

Does it really matter with induction? Again, asking from inexperience.

I think what JGo37 is getting at is when you use pans outdoors on the grill or propane burner or in a smoker they have a tendency to pick up grease and soot on the bottom. Then when you bring it inside and place it on a smooth glass top it transfers that gunk to the glass requiring to use the polish on the glass to remove it.
Glass tops do require regular cleaning to stay looking nice.

Frozen Smoke is right EdF and my aluminum stockpots do not have level bottoms - not perfectly, and that gives you hot and cold spots.

Sounds like an excuse to get a natural gas hook up fancy new outside grill close to the kitchen. Maybe the Blaze? Or a Napoleon?

also if the CI is in the garage, watch the humidity because mold loves oils and residue. I recently had to put a torch to all my garage kept CI and scrub and reheat it to clean it up.

No humidity problem. I keep my garage at 44 degrees all winter as I have a dedicated meat freezer a dedicated beer fridge and a side by side fridge/freezer out there. So the temp needs to be controlled to keep everything running right. I can have it 70 degrees out there in 20 minutes.

So it's not like my CI has been packed away in card board boxes and never to be seen again. I have a full set of cabinets that they are stored in. So I guess you could say the garage has always been more of my kitchen any how. All I got left to do now is to get a hood vent mounted above the flat top and vented outside so I can use the flat top out there with all the doors and windows closed.

You could throw up some peg board and hang your pieces, that would look really cool. Especially up in the north woods. Practical and aesthetically pleasing. Win, Win, brother!

Spinaker I agree about displaying them but I don't have that much wall space left. Everythng is covered with upper cabinets or appliances are up against the wall. Heck I even had to display my new Grain Belt beer banner on the ceiling!!
