The Arrival

After a couple of months the Stargazer 10.5 CI Skillet has arrived. It is a beaut. It does feel a tad lighter than my Lodge 10â€, but the big thing is the nice longer handle. You don’t just grab it in your fist, you use your whole hand with wrist. And it is so smoooth! It was inspected by my chief inspector. Now I just have to season it a couple of times & do my first cook, of course bacon & eggs. For those of the faint at heart, eggs will be in bacon grease as always!

Hi, my name is Darrell. I'm an OTR truck driver for over 25 years. During my off time I love doing backyard cooks. I have a 48" Lang Deluxe smoker, Rec-Tec pellet smoker,1 Weber Genesis 330, 1 Weber Performer (blue), 2 Weber kettles (1 black and 1 Copper), 1 26" Weber kettle, a WSM, 8 Maverick Redi Chek thermometers, a PartyQ, 2 SnS, Grill Grates, Cast Iron grates, 1 ThermoPop (orange) and 2 ThermoPens (pink and orange) and planning on adding more cooking accessories. Now I have an Anova sous vide, the Dragon blower and 2 Chef alarms from Thermoworks.

I love cast iron skillets, don't really use them enough. My old dad cooked bacon and eggs every morning when I was growing up. He used a cast iron pan that had been handed down to him from my grandmother and YES he always fried the eggs in bacon fat !!!!!!

Stargazer: interesting name for a cast iron frying pan. BUT: it’s absolutely gorgeous! I want one!! You need to take photos of that pan in action, bacon grease and all.
