    Star Gazer Cast Iron

Looks like a start up with not a lot of selection unless you want a 10.5'' skillet.
I do like the looks of it and I do like the idea that it is machined (smooth) surface.
The flared rim MIGHT also be interesting to try.
Cast iron skillets made in the USA: Stargazer is based in Allentown, PA.

      Waiting on my Field skillet.
The Field Company manufactures and sells smoother, lighter cast iron skillets reminiscent of the greatest vintage pans. Made in America.

Are they made in USA? Are they machined to a smooth surface?

Michigan is still part of the US. And smooth. An attempt to make an older style of lighter cast iron, like old griswolds.

It's good to see some new entrants into the cast iron marketplace.

I was a backer of the Stargazer skillet on Kickstarter. I got my skillet about a week ago. I really like it. I like the longer handle. The entire interior of the skillet is as smooth as glass.

I also have a Finex 10" with lid. It is nice. The interior of the Finex differs from that of the Stargazer in that only the bottom of the interior is machined smooth - the sides are left with the normal casting surface. It has an aesthetic that you either love or hate - I'm in the love it camp.

My Field skillet should be arriving shortly. It appears to have a more traditional design and the entire interior appears to be machined/finished smooth.

Another cast iron skillet I am going to buy is one of the SolidTeknics Aus-fonte skillets. They are an Australian manufacturer. I have a couple of their carbon steel pans which I love and are my daily use pans.

        I've a 10.5" Griswold that was my dad's hunting/fishing pan...probably 50yrs. old, and a newer Lodge, that I don't like as much.

I received mine in late January. I was in the third production run. It's a very nice skillet and am glad I got one.
