Dutch oven liners

My daughter has been messaging me this afternoon about a camping cookout she is in the middle of. I gave her a Dutch oven earlier this year and she’s become quite the campfire cook. She sent me the picture below. When I ask what was sticking out from under the lid she explained it was a parchment liner made for Dutch ovens. She also commented on how easy they make cleanup. I guess I need to get out more often. I had no idea these were available.

That is neat, but how about some paper to keep all the ashes off the lid.

I’ve used parchment in the Dutch oven for a bread recipe that I’ve used, but never considered it for other things. What is she making in this application?

It’s a whole chicken with carrots and potatoes.

You can buy parchment and aluminum liners from Lodge. The parchment is great for getting baked goods out, like pineapple upside down cake. Used some aluminum liners this summer, worked great. Had to dinner dishes and dessert all prepped, just roated them throug the Dutch Oven and no cleanup.

I didn’t know about the aluminum ones either. I’ll have to get some of those too. There’s very few things I like less than washing dishes while camping. Between these liners, paper plates and plastic eating utensils I’ll have it made. Life just keeps getting better.
