Let me sell you guys some beautiful vintage cast iron thats been cleaned and reseasoned. That way I will have room to go look for more. Like so many things in life it’s the thrill of the hunt that I love.

texastweeter we should talk. I’ve been picky and have some nice BSR and the others. Most have been reasonably priced if not down right steals. I’ve lye vated, electro cleaned and reseasoned most all of them. If I don’t get get rid of some I don’t have room to go look for more. I have the full BSR set that goes with the sportsman’s grill. There’s the deep fish fryer, shallow fish fryer, and the lid-griddle all in great condition.

I found this griddle pan and 2-quart casserole in the scratch-and-dent aisle of the Lodge Factory Outlet in Pigeon Forge about three weeks ago. Nothing was wrong with them! Together they cost $28. When the guy rang my purchase, he pulled a 10-inch frying pan from under the shelf and asked if I would like to add it for $5..... Just saying.

That’s probably good. Commentary from fools benefits no one.

You’re right, they deleted them all! You can’t even leave a review anymore. Apparently there’s enough …………..type of people out there to buy it, they’re sold out…😳 This was on the early news this morning.

“Super hot” took 6 years to develop….. LMAO!
that should probably be left off the marketing résumé

Yeti makes coolers. Why would anyone think Yeti had any special experience/skill regarding cast iron pans? Isn't this kind of like buying a fishing pole from Chevrolet?

Well, we all like to talk about how Lodge is inexpensive but they have entered the high end field and have just released a new enameled Dutch oven line that is $230-$350.

Yeah, but that’s competing in the long established high end porcelain coated segment. I handled them on Wednesday at the factory. Very, very nice. Good price for the quality and positioning in that segment.

I think it makes good business sense for Lodge to do this. Cast iron cookware is big right now, why not offer a high end version as an alternative to the budget mainstay? Cast iron cookware lasts a lifetime so lots of cooks don't mind splurging for the good stuff. I have lots of regular Lodge pieces but also Field and Stargazer. I would love some Finex, Smithy, and Butter Pat but hard to justify for myself since I have probably 1000 lbs of cast iron cookware already.

It seems manufacturers/retailers are trying to cash in on post-covid spending. The impending recession (is that still on?? lol) will damper some of this spending.

*edit* I want to make it clear that I believe anyone, anywhere, should spend their money in any way they see fit. Myself, I have to limit my Lodge-type of expenditures as well. I can't afford to get the Yellowstone stuff, else I would own them all.

Honestly, one of the coolest parts of cast iron is there is a pan at every price point, and the discrepancy between and $400 pan and a $50 pan is much less than with steel, Teflon or enamel coated cook ware. 58limited

It's the show BBQandLove. I don't truly enjoy much on the tube anymore (I watch what the wife is watching and find most of it terrible lol), but Yellowstone is a show I don't want to miss. We are about to binge stream the last season.
