Scotch bowls to some… Yankee bowls to others…
What recipes do you use an open cast iron bowl for?
I’m about to cycle a couple through the portfolio and probably pass one off to the Cub Scouts…
I’ve only deep fried in ours…. And it’s been a while…
Gonna get a good soapy scrubbing today and a fresh coat of seasoning…
I’d like to see them get more use…. Just cause they look cool…
Have a few rust spots on the #3 Griswold…
The main reason to keep the girls cycling through the kitchen instead of on the bottom of the stack in the pantry…
So, here I go talking about history again…
Scotch bowls are shallower than Yankee bowls…
They each come in different sizes/diameters/# sizes…
Naming possibilities are after recipes made with no lids and need frequent stirring…
The Scotch bowl possibly after a Scotch Broth…
The Yankee bowl possibly a bean pot after Yankee Bean recipes…
It’s obvious any pot can be used for any soup, stew or vegetable dish…
I’ll be using my Yankee bowl for my 3- meat stew recipe… and my Scotch bowls for fireplace soups at family gathering…
And I found 3 bowls instead of 2… One Yankee bowl and two Scotch bowls…

Had to stay in all day yesterday…
So, I fired up the oven and ran these 4 skillets and 3 bowls through a seasoning process…
I only have one finger with a little blister this morning!
