Cuisinart Recalls Nearly Two Million Grill Brushes

To the shock of everyone reading this I am sure, we've had yet-another-grill-brush-recall, this one by Cusinart's parent company, Conair: https://www.cpsc.gov/Recalls/2026/Co...gestion-Hazard

If you're keeping track, this is the third wire grill brush recall this year. The CPSC can't ban an entire class of product, but companies really should just stop making this stuff.

There was just another news story about a guy with a punctured intestine who needed surgery. I still used my steel bristle brushes last year, but finally ditched them for good this spring.

I mainly use some crumpled up aluminum foil to clean grates. If I use some in the house for cooking that doesn't get too dirty I throw them into a box to use on the grills.

If the grates remain on the smoker or grill they never get dirty, just seasoned.

Tossed those wire brushes awhile back. GrillArt, recommendation from the free side, coiled wire. Still see bristley brushes on sale in places like Menards, Walmart, etc... Guess they're trying to dump the stock as fast as they can!

I lost mine in the move-packin-unpaxkin and have been usin aluniminmum foil all year. To cheap to buy a brush and tons of the foil.

Is it the wire bristles being caught on carbon deposits left on the grates, then being transferred to meat?

I submitted my claim this morning, we'll see what happens.
