    Rotisserie basket

Hi all! So, a while ago I fabricated my own Hank’s Hot Box, a Hill country cooker that looks like the Chudbox from Chuds BBQ. I posted it in this forum during spring/summer. I really like this cooker 👍

I also mounted a rotisserie kit so I could do the spinning bird and other things. That got me to thinking: why not fabricate a basket for smaller stuff? Then I thought again (twice in a day…) Let’s see what I can find online? Lo and behold, Amazon to the rescue.

So I picked this puppy up, at a reasonable price. Has anyone used this thingamajing before? My first idea is to cook a bunch of taters in it, but I’m open to ideas. So let’s hear it!

Not sure but I think Attjack might have one? Veggies, shrimp, chicken wings.

I'd watch the taters closely. If the fall from side to side during rotation, they might wind up smashed . If they roll on the rounded sides, they should be OK

Through some chopped onions and bell peppers in with the taters. I can almost smell it from here.

They use something similar with propane direct heat to roast peppers. Maybe let it spin and throw a torch to it?

I haven't used that basket but I love my basket on my Kanka grill. Baskets offer a lot of stuff you can play with.

I had one similar to the what is shown above but switched to using one from OneGrill which is shallower so items didn’t tumble as much. Won’t hold as much but the lid is adjustable so I can hold things more securely.

The one shown above is closer to the basket I use for roasting coffee. It does a good job tumbling the beans.

I have a basket like this and I use it for chicken legs usually, I have used it for wings but wings can fall out. Napolean sells one too.

I have a similar one, I don't use it a lot mainly because it's hard to clean.

I have one and it's pretty nice. I got it for roasting peppers but have used it for other stuff to lime wings.

Good points about the tumbling. I’ve seen chicken wings in a couple of recipes, but I’ll try out potatoes and veggies first.

I have one on my Napoleon gasser. I’ve used it twice in a couple of years - wings and shrimp. Works well, but a PITA to clean as reported above.

Yes they are a pain to clean after, we use cooking spray and usually soak to clean. We never tried putting in dish washer.

Ok, good to know. We’ll see if it ends up collecting dust on the shelf after a couple of weeks 😄

I bought a similar one this past summer. I've used it to roast chili peppers and to cook peppers and onions for fajitas.

Peppers and onions, that’s an idea I like!

Crank the heat and roast some chilis! Dry your socks and add that irresistible campfire cologne to it, warm up your bedroll before a cold night in the tent.
