Just for completeness' sake. These are pics of the piece of wire that tried to kill me on Friday.

At the very least, your holidays would have been very uncomfortable, in the horsepistol.

Man, that would be enough to make you have a bad day.

I bought a Grill Rescue (the one linked to multiple times here) for my father-in-law for his birthday back in October. Based off the ads I couldn’t tell if it was legit or a gimmick, but went for it anyway.

    Verdict: LEGIT!

This thing cleans so well and so quick. I was absolutely amazed. Highly recommended!

Heres to hoping he returns the favor at Xmas! 🎄🔥🎄

I got this one on sale at a local hardware store. While I haven't had the chance to use it yet, it seems relatively safe. It will be curious to see if it works well, though.

I also have the Grill Rescue. It works pretty well, but the head of it gets pretty funky in short order. I probably need to replace the head, but the stores around me haven't carried replacement heads in quite a while - which is why I'm trying this Oxo one as the store has replacement heads in stock.

The head is removable and washable in the dishwasher. It is supposed to last for 100 uses.

Good to know. I will have to sneak it into the dishwasher when my wife isn't looking. :-)

I use the ones like smokenoob posted above, and like this, with the wadded thick steel wool-like material. I love them.

I also talked about this in my latest YouTube video. Balled up aluminum foil is a great inexpensive option. Also rubbing a cut-in-half onion over hot grates is a good way to keep your grates clean and seasoned https://youtu.be/DSHd4mso9_Q

I clean grates with balled up aluminum foil then wipe down with oil using the blue shop towels as they don't leave fibers on the grates like the regular paper towels.
