Has anyone seen one of these?

It’s a Weber griddle for the 22” kettle. And it pretty much takes up all of the real estate. O_o

I stumbled across it, looking for something else naturally, and decided that I HAD to have it. It was delivered the same day…cleaned it up, put the handles on, and got to it.
Works like a champ…though even as big as it is, it’s still significantly smaller than my 36” gas griddle. But what the heck, another toy in the toy box.

It certainly heats up quickly…and stays blazingly hot. I’ll probably use less charcoal for the next cook. Two zone is easy, though again, the 22” Performer in my case is the limiting factor…especially doing what I did: made Philly cheesesteak sandwiches. Not a great deal of room to be moving the components around for 5 sandwiches. But I managed to get there in the end.

I also have the Weber GBS Griddle (#7421) that I picked up when I got my WSCGC which also works great for certain things…but is TINY compared to this thing. Still, depending on what one is doing…it’s perfect. For comparison, the GBS griddle cooking space is 12”…giving us an area of 113.10 sq in. This new griddle OTOH is 21.62”…which makes it 366.95 sq in. That’s a whopping 253.85 more space!

Honestly, if you’re looking to transform your kettle into a griddle…this is DEFINITELY worth a look. Yes, smaller than a 36” dedicated griddle…by about half…but also a lot less money and easier to store for those that need to store cookers. It’s just another option. And now I have the 12” GBS insert, the 21” griddle, and the 36” gas griddle.

Now all I need it more time to play with them.

First cook on the new toy. Yeah, it kinda got away from me by the time I got MY buns off the hot side. And yes, there’s jalapeños in there because that’s how I like them. ;-)
I used provolone but the “boy” had cheese in a can. LOL

Looks like you've got that under control.

I've got a couple of those type, a full flat from Hunsaker and a version with a searing grate in the center. These are both 18" but I've also got the 22" versions.

I didn’t even know that was a thing until I stumbled across it. And with same day delivery, I didn’t wait. Nice little gadget.

I like the sear grate on that second one… hmmm

I originally bought a C.I. 15" disk for the 22kettle. Before I got fully into the kettle Griddle, I bought the Ceramic 36 gas cookTop.
That became my most used cooker for a very long while. Bacon, hash brn potatoes, snausages, Stir Fry, SmashBurgers. So many things done well and very easy cleanup. It is a "Victory" from BBQ Guys n cost $325. Great purchase. Now the C.I. sits in the bottom of the kitchen oven.

      This certainly won’t replace my 36” dedicated griddle/flattop…but it’s a great option.

And for those uncertain about getting, or lacking the space for, a dedicated flattop…this is a bargain.

And apparently, there are variations on this theme as Uncle Bob pointed out. The second one that he posted has got me thinking…

If someone wanted to really latch on to this theme there's always an Arteflame unit to purchase: Arteflame Flat Top Charcoal Grills | Griddle Grill Combination Cooktop

Alan Brice The Corten finish can be had for $2500…

FWIW, I’ve honestly looked at an Arteflame grill more than once. And while spendy…it’s not ridiculously so compared to my WSCGC or the Weber Platinum D6 that I purchased 20 years ago…and will probably last just as long. The BIG issue is the size. A 40” cooker takes up a lot of space that I don’t currently have. If I still lived at my previous house…I could easily make it fit.
