Come to Houston he said. I know a great place he claimed.

Well for those of us that have suffered with PJ and his antic's, er... I mean, enjoyed his playful spirit since he joined here what seems a really long lifetime ago. You would think that at the very least, he would be able to find a decent BBQ joint in his home town. Well at least that's what I thought until we pulled into The Pit Room parking lot and got a look at their pits.

And yes, that is a real picture of actual smokers found in their parking lot.
Oh Lord, help me find the closest Rudy's BBQ before I go in this place, so I can have some real Texas BBQ fresh from the microwave.
Well as Harry Soo says, it's not the pit, but the pit master that makes great BBQ.

I can also confirm that despite how little he knows about practically everything else, our PJ can in fact find a good BBQ joint, and he didn't need both hands, and a fleshlight to do it.
My GF and I had the honor of joining PJ for lunch today, and lucky for us, the food was just as good as the company we enjoyed it with. Since none of us had been there before, we ordered the Feast #1. It claimed to feed 4-6 people. Yeah, if those 4 people are competitive eaters training for the eating Olympics it might only feed 4 of them. But for mere mortals, you could easily feed 6 and still need a box for the leftovers.
The platter had 3 kinds of sausage, and all of them were very good. Several slices of mixed flat and point brisket, also delicious. Pulled pork, turkey, chicken, pork ribs, and a beef rib.
The pork ribs, and the beef rib were the only things that I would only rate as just being good. I thought the pork ribs were a little over cooked, and the rub was just S&P with maybe a little G. The beef rib was good, but again needed a good BBBR, or something else with a little more flavor to it. Both the chicken and turkey were spot on. Moist, tender, and very flavorful.
Everything else on the platter was very good to excellent. Including the sides of elote, green beans, pit beans, and mac and cheese. The mac and cheese was good enough that the GF went back and got a pint to go just in case there was any threat of us moving off the bed in the hotel room again today. Trust me, that is unlikely to happen.

So, even if you don't have the opportunity to sit down and spend a little time getting to know a fine gentleman, like we did, The Pit Room is worth stopping at just for the food alone.
Oh, and I have it on good authority that there are indeed a couple 1000 gallon pits inside that they also cook on, but I wasn't able to get any pictures of them, so according to AR rules, no pics, they don't exist and all the food really was cooked on the two COS's in the parking lot.
