I've been to Lexington Barbecue (twice) and Fox Brothers and both were fantastic.

My first time at Lexington, I was alone and sat at the counter. Mentioned it was my first time and they kept bringing me things to try in addition to what I ordered. Obviously ordered the pork in a NC joint, but I think that was the first time I'd ever had a taste of real smoked turkey breast, not the processed stuff from a deli counter. I was completely blown away by how moist and delicious it could be and that is why turkey breast is in my regular rotation when smoking meats, even though I haven't yet been able to achieve results quite like what I had at Lexington.

My Fox Brothers meal was a much less traditional bbq meal for me. Usually, my first time at a bbq place I'll get a sample of a few meats (no sauce) and some sides to really experience the bbq. But as far as I'm concerned, if you go anyplace with Chicken Fried Ribs on the menu and don't order them, that is an opportunity missed. And the Fox Bros. "Burger" was quite tasty too (Chopped Brisket topped with bacon, tomato, red onion, pickles, melted pimento cheese and jalapeño mayo on a buttered, brioche bun).

I've been to Fox Brothers' recently (@ SunTrust Park...Braves game) and the Fox Bros "burger" was absolutely delicious. It is essentially a brisket sandwich with pimento cheese, onion and tomato. The brisket was excellent. Really a heavy meal, could not eat it all....but the Terrapin beers were good too. . I've eaten at Dreamland more than I can count, they are the quintessential H&F ribs, go to the original location (in Tuscaloosa) if you are able, the atmosphere is great. They've recently expanded their menu, but it use to be just ribs, white loaf bread and drink. No sides of any kind to be found, but now they have expanded to include other options and they are good.

Hmmmmm...Best in Texas, The Salt Lick ????? I don't think so. Great place but hardly the BEST. They lost credibility with me on the first page, sorry can't comment on any of the rest.....

As yes, despite the fact that they have gone commercial, Rudy's still makes some fine 'cue. I have one near the house and find myself going there several times a year, always good !!

Just to be clear, I wasn't challenging your opinion of Salt Lick. I've never been there.

I didn’t take it that way at all. Just like you I’m curious of what other folks think, there are so many choices these days and so little time.

MN BBQ joints would beat all of these. No question. I mean, you guys ever heard of a little place called Famous Dave's?

Wasn't sure at first, but I see now your tongue was firmly planted in your cheek. My suggestion for runner-up is the McRib.
