Hi, my name is Darrell. I'm an OTR truck driver for over 25 years. During my off time I love doing backyard cooks. I have a 48" Lang Deluxe smoker, Rec-Tec pellet smoker,1 Weber Genesis 330, 1 Weber Performer (blue), 2 Weber kettles (1 black and 1 Copper), 1 26" Weber kettle, a WSM, 8 Maverick Redi Chek thermometers, a PartyQ, 2 SnS, Grill Grates, Cast Iron grates, 1 ThermoPop (orange) and 2 ThermoPens (pink and orange) and planning on adding more cooking accessories. Now I have an Anova sous vide, the Dragon blower and 2 Chef alarms from Thermoworks.
Cookers:
Large Big Green Egg with a Ceramic Grill Store rack system, and the SnS setup.
Weber Genesis SA-E-330 LP INDIGO with SS Grates, Weber Crafted frame kit, baking stone, griddle (2/3), all from Ace Hardware.
For the first time in a long time I have no kettles as I gave them all away.
Everything Else:
SnS #3 with certificate. I was their first customer.
Sous Vide equipment.
SnS and Thermoworks instant read and leave-in thermometers.
Grill Grates for BGE.
Kingsford Blue Bag, Weber lighter cubes, Weber charcoal chimneys.
Rubs with salt: Meat Church Holy Cow.
Rubs without salt: Home-mixed versions of previously sold SnS Grills Rocky's Rub and Not Just for Beef using their recipe. SPOG.
Spices: Lots of 'em.
Thanks for the great review! I'll have to have a number of ChefAlarm and DOT failures to "need" the Smoke, and I seriously doubt I'll have failures anytime soon as they're so reliable, so getting a Smoke will be because of the remote capability. The good news is that all the probes I've got (several used & new) will work with the Smoke.
I saw the email came across and it looks interesting. But my big question are replacement probes available there the equivalent of the "combo meat/air" probe for the Mav? That combo probe is just perfect for leading in thru various point in my smokers other than the cook door, which risks crimping the lead. Unfortunately, the right angle probe won't make it thru my favorite path.
Also, how easy is it to obtain replacement probes, and how much are they?
And with rumors of a WiFi version, I want to see what that is like. Ideally the transmitter will have a built-in web server so a dedicated app on your computer/phone is not needed.
Last is battery life. My Mav has OUTSTANDING battery life! What is the Smoke like?
Based on what we know right now, I feel no compulsion to try the Smoke yet, but will keep my eye on developments.

Replacement probes can be found here. Most are $16. The high temp straight penetration probe is the one you'll be interested in. My personal favorite is the "Waterproof Needle Probe". It reads temps as fast as a Thermopop!
My understanding is the wifi is an add on for this thermometer and not a separate version.
I've been using the Smoke over a week and have left it on overnight. Batteries are still going strong. The base unit even has a button for turning off RF transmission to even further increase battery life.
The Mav ET-732 is still a great thermometer and will serve you well. The next time you're in the market though you should give Smoke a look.
Weber Summit Kamado with SnS and Vortex.. Broil King Baron, Primo Oval Junior. Primo XL. Love grilling steaks, ribs, and chicken. Need to master smoked salmon. Absolutely love anything to do with baking bread. Favorite cool weather beer: Sam Adams Octoberfest Favorite warm weather beer: Yuengling Traditional Lager. All-time favorite drink: Single Malt Scotch
Very good review. Since I lost the receiver for my Maverick, I will be looking with interest at this one. I like the simplicity of the settings. That has always been a beef for me with the Maverick. Not intuitive at all. I love Thermoworks products, so I would pay the 99 bucks for it.

Thanks for the great review. I just ordered a Smoke, to go along with my ThermaPen, ChefAlarm and Dot. I'd previously looked at the Maverick, but have always like the TheraWorks product. Look forward to using the Smoke.
I have the exact same setup. I like how the DOT can be squeezed into the ChefAlarm case along with two probes and a grate clip. Makes the case very handy.

I accidentally got my ThermoWorks needle probe over a raging SnS a few days ago and it is seared, so while I was ordering a replacement, Smoke also jumped into my cart.
