Tomatoes are doing well. Looking to harvest our first Sungolds today. Peppers are a bit behind.

Any of you guys ever grow Thai Basil or Thai Eggplant? I'm really into both and would like to give it a go.

I have Thai basil in the back yard. It is flourishing. The funny thing is - I haven't used it yet.

I love this stuff. Nothing like the texture of Italian eggplant.

Interesting! How do they taste compared to other eggplants?

I honestly can't really describe it. They have a wonderful mouth feel, almost a crunch, but also a chew like calamari. They have an aromatic flavor as opposed to the blank slate of other eggplants.

Our post to our neighbors this morning:

“The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Cucumber Warning for South Point residents. High concentrations are recommended to be distributed immediately, otherwise the situation could turn into a real pickle.

Would you like some from this morning’s harvest?”

What are they? The one label I can sort of read says Bamboo Shoots?

EDIT: Note to self, read more before posting.

Took a few photos of some of our tomato beds. While my wife enjoys all the vegetables my focus is producing enough tomatoes for my daily lunch.

Best one day tomato harvest, just over 11lbs on Aug. 23. Crimson Carmellos, San Marzanos, and Sungold cherries.

Very nice and a little jellie. We have almost 60 tomato plants in the ground and Collette canned a whopping 4 qts from the first harvest this morning. We'll be lucky get that much more before the first frost. Pretty rough year for tumatuhs up here this season.

CaptainMike - we have about a dozen plants. I was a little late getting my seeds started this year, but it has been a good season up until now. The heat is shutting things down now, but we're grateful for the yields.

What a year this has been. When I planted seeds this winter for the garden plants I could never have never imagined that tomorrow, November 11th, I would be picking the last of our vine ripened tomatoes and peppers because it is finally going down near freezing. There will still be some more that are close and will ripen over the next several weeks indoors. And as an extra bonus there will be plenty of fried green tomatoes after that.

Well I now realize why we don’t usually pick tomatoes so late in the year. Weird things apparently happen to them if they spend Halloween night still on the vine. This one is even growing teeth.

I threw some "excess" garlic in the deck rail planter about a week ago. I planted my last ones too late in the spring, so we'll see what these ones produce
