    Caveman Grilled Artichokes

Has anyone tried a recipe like this one from Steven Raichlen:

Sicilian Grilled Artichokes with Garlic and Mint: A recipe from Steven Raichlen's Project Fire, Episode 410: The Mediterranean Grill

He grills them literally in the coals! Look at the episode of Project Fire with this recipe, and skip to about 5:30 in the video to see what he does...

I really want to try this, but after tonight's kettle grease fire while cooking chicken around the Vortex, I am hesitant to put an olive oil soaked artichoke down in glowing red lump...

My wife loves artichokes, but I don't think she would like the mint he uses in this recipe. Not sure I like the idea of mint and garlic together for that matter, so I would have to think of something else to stuff it with. Garlic yes, I think no to the mint...

He has a steak recipe using a similar technique. I’ve always been skeptical of it and not willing to risk ruining a good cut of meat. I like a lot Raichlen’s recipes so perhaps I should trust him.

Sorry about the grease fire. Hope you salvaged the chicken, the cooker, and your eyebrows.

Oh yeah - I just had to move the chicken off the kettle QUICK, and finished it on the gas grill that was already going with some artichokes.

Steven Raichlen isn't a caveman. I see a lawsuit coming...

I'm going to give it a go. Your Artichoke cooks have inspired me to try cooking them myself.

Let me know what happens - and how mint/garlic work together...

Luv me some artichokes. Reminds me I just may have to pick some up today.
      Cook them in my Traeger.
