Hi all. Looking for an Asian style rub for chicken. Rec Tec offers one called Asian Persuasion. But it’s $10.98 for 12 oz. plus $9.99 for shipping! So we’l say $21 for 12. oz or $1.75 per oz. OUCH. Any guidance?

Mix your own. Way easier (and cheaper once you are stocked). I know Penzeys isn't shipping right now but it won't be long. Way cheaper and you can get the flavor profiles you want.
Star anise, cloves, cinnamon, Sichuan peppercorns, fennel, ginger, nutmeg, turmeric, cardamom, orange peel, coriander, all these are good things to try. And obviously salt.

I didn’t think of Penzy’s. Duh. I have a Penzy’s retail store 3 miles from my house. I bet they are open now too. WI is wide open. If not, I’ll make my own maybe.

Shichimi Togarashi is great on chicken. Japanese.
here’s a recipe: https://www.greatbritishchefs.com/re...garashi-recipe
ive never made it, I just buy it. Penzey May have it, Spice House and my local spice shop do. I think I’ve seen it at the grocery, but that’s Chicago.

Thanks everyone. As usual, tons of help. I have decided to just make my own. A couple interesting recipes passed along here including the post right before this one.
