Like others have said, previous, lotta workout, on big or multiple proteins, so I also have a small Krups Coffee/Spice grinder, to save some on carpal tunnel / RMI action...

I would like one that would work in one hand - so I could keep it clean while turning meat with my "wet" hand. Anyone have a recommendation for a good one hand pepper mill?

I finally gave up on pepper mills and bought this about a year ago.
Works really well with a bit of practice.
I do use it also for salt--haven't had a problem but it will grind it really fine if you don't watch it.

Magnum Plus      The top of our Unicorn line. Extra large steel mechanism,  huge capacity, infinitely adjustable...

huge capacity and great adjustable grind from super coarse to super fine. After I got two of these, just about everything else got tossed.

I tried multiple battery grinders in the past (looking for that one hand solution) but they always jam. Alton brown replaced the knob on his grinder with a cordless power drill. Definitely works but still two handed unless you mount the grinder body solidly to the drill chassis.

I thought about doing this, but for volume a small blade type coffee grinder works well and takes up less space.

If you go to Youtube and go to the BBQ Pit Boys channel they had a brief period where they matched the female end of a battery-powered drill with the male end of the top of the rod that would normally be twisted by hand via the knob on a pepper mill . It was both brilliant and hilarious and unfortunately they only went that route on a handful of videos.

Alton Brown did this on his "good eats" show over a decade ago.

I second the Unicorn. This is hands down the best I have ever used.

I've had battery pepper mills, crank pepper mills, and used a spice grinder, and I love this thing compared to all of them:
Kuhn Rikon <- I have the earlier generation, but it's adjustable for grind size and you get a great volume out of it. It far surpassed my other ones as far as how much pepper you got, and it's easy to fill. A little door pops out to fill. It doesn't look as sleek as some other ones, that's about my only complaint.

I picked up this old Japanese pepper mill second hand. I don't know if it's all that or not but first impressions are good. I can't find any info about it online yet. It's 26mm tall.
