Remembering which is which (Allergy question)

I have a friend who is allergic to ginger. The MMD rub has ginger in it, and I just made a batch. I have 2 pork butts going on tomorrow (one with MMD and the other not). How do you remember which is which if rubs/butts look the same.

Split one and flare it out.

Could put a thin metal skewer in one.

I have a massive metal skewer. Which I had a smaller one. Good idea though!

Put a hole the size of the tip of your thumb in one. Maybe crater would be better description, very small.

Or don’t mark em at all & let your friend tell ya which one is which. 😎

The toothpick idea worked for me. Nobody (yet) has called me up and filed a lawsuit! One thing I noticed is when I was pulling it, some of the dye from the wooden blue toothpick got in the meat. I didn’t say anything and just mixed it all together. But I used wooden toothpicks. Should I have used plastic? I was afraid it was going to melt if I used plastic.

Never use colored wood toothpicks in hot food.
