    Dried mushroom steak rub

I like to use dried mushrooms in my rub. Porcini mushrooms ground up in my spice grinder and mixed into my rub gives it a real earthy wood flavor. Does anyone else do this?

Absolutely. We also like to use dried procini in rubs. This is the blend we usually use:

2 oz dried porcini ground fine in a spice/coffee grinder
      1/4 granulated sugar
      2 Tbl kosher salt
      2 Tbl ground black pepper
      2 Tbl crushed red pepper

Great rub on steaks or other beef cuts.

I don't use salt but add dried ground Rosemary and thyme. Sometimes we add in some dried beef Crystals, turn them into powder via the spice grinder.

Nice! I usually leave out the salt as well since we usually dry brine ahead of time. The addition of the herbs sounds fantastic.
        We'll give it a try!
