Thank god for HEB here in Texas. I can buy spices in bulk from large jars at 1/3rd less of price from the shelves. Scoop what you want into a small zipper bag, and then transfer into saved spice jars from previously used spices. I wash mine out very well and then place said bulk spice into container and close tightly. #done.

I am fortunate to have a local health food store that carries bulk spices that are very fresh. Fresh spices are a secret to really great flavor and I have had some spices around for years that I just recently dumped as they had gone stale. Lots of great info in this thread and it is good to see folks are concerned about their spices.
