A fun video. The last time I made potato chips, I just used a potato peeler to slice the potato right into the hot oil. I thought they turned out rather tasty...

This aroused so many special joys of when my daughter still lived with us. A staple for Jessica and her friends from school days thru college. I'm convinced she had more friends 'cause of homemade chips.
Then this from yesterday has me pining.

Mr. Patato Head is now made out of plastic. Hard to slice, and a disaster to fry. Please do not try.

I like to take russets, peel, then run through my deli slicer. Soak for a few to remove excess starch, then deep fry until crispy. Add some brine from pickled jalapenos to a bowl, toss them like wings, and then hit with some seasoned salt.

Why long ways? Just to get bigger chips or is there some reason I'm missing?

Draznnl they tend to wad up more when you fry them, making them crunchier.

"Do you have a mandolin at home?" A question I have asked numerous friends.
Sadly, the answer more often than not is "No." To which I generally ask another question; "WTH not?!" LOL

      Nice find. Thanks for sharing.
