I can think of very few things that aren’t improved by being fried in bacon grease.

Let’s see. Pork fried in pork fat. If that’s wrong I don’t want to be right.

In my particular case, I'd use th Bacon Grease, on accounta I always use dat, Lard, Tallow, etc...

I, emphatically, DO NOT WISH to have "Partially Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil" listed as th "Official Cause Of Death" on my Death Certificate...

                YMMV

I'm with Mr. Bones about shortening. It has no place in my kitchen.

But whether to fry ham in bacon grease depends on the ham. If it's everyday nothing special ham, yep, bacon grease is good. Wouldn't hesitate a second on that.

If it's really nice flavored ham from one of our most excellent local lockers who do their own curing and smoking, I would probably not use bacon grease. That would be like slathering someone's ribs or brisket in KC Masterpiece before even trying a taste of the nekkid meat to see how it tastes on its own.

If I want to taste the ham and nothing but the ham. I might give the ham a little warm up and a bit of browning with a pat of butter or even mild flavored olive oil.

Yeah, it’s just a ham slice. Good ham slice, but nothing special.

Also found out eggs & bacon & the artery conundrum is a sack o’ unmentionable words that don’t mean much cept put money into some coffers of mfgs. & associations.
