Nope, Mark, I'm definitely thinking about daikon. I know it's just a radish, but boyohboy can it ever smell up my refrigerator! Maybe where you live you get a fresher product than I can find at Whole Foods.

fzxdoc. You won't be sorry. The Char Siu Ribs are excellent. I've got 2 racks marinating now.

    Hi Kathryn,

Stinky feet? Never noticed daikon had that aroma. It's just a radish. Maybe you're thinking of something else? I just store it in the bag from the store in the vegetable bin, cut off a hunk and peel when I need it.

I've just got to give that Char Siu recipe a try, since you all rave about it so much.

Mark ( mgaretz ) your meal sounds scrumptious. I'll have to google a BlendTec Twister Jar.

About daikon--doesn't it make your fridge smell like stinky feet? How do you store them before using?

mgaretz. Nice! Very nice. I love both options. I did my first Char Siu cooked a couple of weeks ago. I love them. They are going to be good halftime snacks this football season.

Last Meal and Char Siu Ribs for July 4th

I wanted LMRs, my wife wanted Char Siu, her new favorite. So I split the rack of baby backs in two and did half as LMR and the other half as Char Siu. Same cook, just had to add the Char Siu ribs about two hours in. Served with sweet white corn, salad with romaine, celery, carrots, daikon, baby cucumbers, red bell pepper, tomatoes and avocado along with my raspberry vinaigrette. Not shown is the appetizer of home made hummus, made with my new birthday present, a Blendtec Twister jar.
