I am considering biting the bullet and get a Mangalitsa Ham from Allen Bros. for Easter. Family is going a bit stir crazy so wanted to try and do something fun and special with the meal. I am super new to heritage breed pork. Anyone ever order/cook/eat this type of ham.? Thought I would solicit some advice before I bit the bullet as it is pricey.

Form what I have read that is the breed of pig they have in Spain that they use for making the Spanish prosciutto style aged hams.
jamon iberico de bellotta, which the the pigs only feed on acorns.
Tasty but very expensive.
I don’t know if the mangalitsa is bred in the US anywhere.
latienda.con has this bred of pork on their websiteLast edited by Greygoose; April 1, 2020, 05:50 AM.
