I removed a pork loin from the freezer 2 days ago. It was completely thawed the next day. How long will the meet keep before I absolutely have to cook it? Of corse, it's kept in the fridge. Does beef have any different lifespan? My problem is that some dinner invitations came up that have caused me to put off cooking the loin until day 5. Is it safe to keep meat refrigerated that long?

That’s pretty much the limit & have it not taste a little funky. Over five or even at five you may have to smell & rinse before cooking. You should be ok, it depends on how long it was before freezing. Do use the smell test, it’s not that the meat will go bad & unsafe for cooking. In my book anyways & I’m still alive.

I agree with what FireMan has stated with the exception of rinsing the meat. Totally not recommended by the USDA - https://www.fsis.usda.gov/wps/portal...y/washing-food
