Defrost Time? - Pork Butt

A couple weeks ago, I picked up a pork butt when it was on sale and put it into the freezer. I plan on cooking it next Saturday. How long should I allow for it to defrost?

I usually allow a good 4 days in fridge with a 10 lb pork butt

Put it in fridge now. If it’s vac sealed you can rapid defrost in water in a day, easy.

if you plan on brining take it out now.

Yes - a few days in the refrigerator after it defrosts won't hurt, and will allow more time for salt to penetrate.

Yep if it is cryovaced take it out now. A couple extra days defrosted won't hurt it .

When I defrost ten pounders in my garage refrigerator which isn’t opened very often, four days would be cutting it close. To throughly defrost in four days I will usually take it out for a few hours each day.

set it on an aluminum sheet with sides. The aluminum will help it thaw faster.
