    Root Beer and Rum Spiced Bone-In Spiral Sliced Ham

    Ham has a special place in our favorite cook menus. This cook was exceptionally moist and teamed with a sweet aromatic rum flavor.

    In this cook, is the hickory just for heat? It seems like the ham is covered the whole time except the last ten minutes.

    Also, as an aside, thanks for the Evernote Cooking Journal idea. I kind of adopted/adapted your format. I like it a lot.

      Great Question: You are correct. Because of the tin-foil seal, the pellets selected provided only heat: they did nothing to add flavor. Costco sells Traeger hickory pellets at reduced price. In the winter I stock up!
