No, it's actually based on Steve Raichlen's Tea smoked duck. Wife decided she doesn't like duck and I was stuck with all this tea. Figured I might as well experiment and used it with something she would eat ... :-)

I think 5 Spice is wonderful on Ribs. Emeril Lagasse has a recipe for 5 spice ribs http://emerils.com/123985/five-spice...s-crunchy-slaw . The rib part is braised, which I can do without. But the Orange BBQ sauce on that recipe is a thing of beauty. It's amazing with the 5 spice on the ribs.
