Gained 3 pounds in 24 hours with this pizza!

Using the website recommended on this site, I made the recipe from therealdeepdish. Wow. Just wow. But whereas my New York style I'm happy cooking for my family 2 or 3 times a month, this is more of a 3 or 4 times a year type thing. It's just too much. For this 12" pizza, I used a pound of Italian sausage, a pound of sliced mozzarella, pepperoni under the sauce and on top, olives, onions, and garlic. I've never felt so wonderful and so disgusting at the same time. I'm so happy I made this pizza.

Thank you. Yeah, my cholesterol levels went up just reading the recipe.

People express their disgust at the deep dish pies, but I say, eat them all. Thin crust, thick crust, Sicilian, Neapolitan, deep dish, shallow dish, whatever. Slice ‘em and plate ‘em.

I gained a pound looking at the pictures of that pie. I’m with Mosca, I haven’t met too many pizzas I don’t like. I’ll usually choose thin or Neapolitan, but definitely get the hankerin’ for a Chicago deep dish from time to time.

Thanks. I'd like to say it took my wife and I several days to eat it, but I'd be lying. It was gone in 24 hours.

What did you cook it on, or in?

Cooked it in a Finex cast iron skillet. It's 12" in diameter and 2" deep, so it worked great.

Thanks Steve B! I'll do that. Yeah, my 4-year-old wanted the olives. You couldn't even taste them with all the other deliciousness loading it down.
