    Canada Day 2020 bbq time

Happy Canada Day to all my fellow Canucks in the pit. Sure will be a different kind of party this year! I’ve got a "physical distancing" compliant backyard party at my place this afternoon.

And... first time hosting since I have my Apollo! Main cook will 24 nice chicken drumsticks. 12 with Memphis Dust and KC sauce glaze at the end, and the other 12 will Jamaïcain Jerk from the recipe found right here on Amazing Ribs. They’ll be glazed with a mango-rum sauce!

What’s going on in your backyard?

We are not very good at taking meat out of the freezer either, but we have a local grocery store so I usually go there and buy something to cook.

Part A Canada Day Juicy Jumbos and
Johnsonville cheese brats on the gasser
Question of the day is a hot dog done when
          1. You crisp the skin
          2. The shin splits open

This was my cook for today, it was a small blade roast that we had in the freezer and I smoked it on the Primo using hickory wood and BBR after dry brining. It was very good and there is none left.

Once the afternoon guests left (backyard party for my daughters and friends), I got down to business for me and my love. Quebec grain-fed veal tomahawk that got some reverse-sear love on the Weber and then a blast of "afterburner" heat. No final plate pic, but it was a great "steak frites".

AAA T-bones from Foodland's sale of last week. I'm on a first name basis with the butcher at our local Foodland as I'm apparently the only person in our village that has meat custom cut there. This was after a Canada Day drive-by/parade that my wife put together since this year's real parade was cancelled due to Covid. We had about 60 cars, plus an OPP escort, and 2 fire trucks and we all drove through the one retirement home and 2 long term care residences in town. I drove my wife's Miata while she was in the passenger seat wearing the village's mascot costume. 30* degrees and humid and the Miata's air conditioning really doesn't blow cold air any more, still a great time.

Bobbie Constellation (Bobcayeon is our village and the mascot is a reference to the song Bobcaygeon by The Tragically Hip)

What did you cook the steaks on? Looks like a pellet grill to me? Steaks look good I could eat them, my wife prefers hers cooked a little more.
