Friends in the outdoor cooking community, countrymen, survivors, I am writing to pitch an idea I had yesterday. It’s nothing more than a virtual rally to raise spirits, provide a distraction and fire up some fun. After all, fun is the business we are in.
Fundamentally, this idea is simple: a hashtag and a date. A virtual, national cookout day that puts a pleasurable spin on the confines of social distancing. Because we have all been asked to isolate, cooking at home is a responsible solution. Because we now have digital platforms at our fingertips, isolating need not become isolation - we can still come together to cook and share our best recipes, stories, and one liners.
Saturday, March 28 will be National Stay In & Cookout Day.
The thrust of the day will be for average backyard cooks, weekend BBQ competitors, and pros (you guys) to share video recipes and techniques throughout the day using the hashtag #stayincookout on every social media platform. This hashtag is there to allow our shared target audience(s) to engage across platforms, and easily search and access the content. With the right participation levels, we could trend across platforms and overshadow the bad news of the day for a moment or two - a worthy goal I believe.
We hope you’ll join us in this spirited virtual cookout, and help spread the word through your channels in the coming week. Let's #stayincookout on Saturday, March 28.

This is a unique, 1-day version of our popular "Show Us What You're Cooking (SUWYC)" topic. Please use this page here to post your cooks for THIS SATURDAY MARCH 28th. Also, as noted above please share your cookout pics from THIS SATURDAY MARCH 28 on your favorite social media platforms with the hashtag #stayincookout.
Please wait until Saturday March 28th to post your cookout pics here. Then be sure to share them on social media using the hashtag #stayincookout
In the meantime, use our current SUWYC topic here.
Did I mention this is not for now, or the rest of this week, but it's for Saturday March 28? If not, remind me to mention that.
