I would recommend that you decide what you're hungry for, find that recipe, then follow it to a "T". You'll learn a lot along the way and be very comfortable after a few cooks, as most of the techniques repeat.

I for one have found it to be a great fire starter !! Doesn't matter where you start tearing pages out !!! The ink they use must be high in kerosene content because it creates a great initial flame. Only problem is I have to keep buying the damn thing over and over. Oh well, I'm sure MH won't mind my lining his pocket

As a friend once told me about how to learn a thing …. Begin at the beginning and go on until the end.

I got the book a couple of years ago and I had been smoking meats for 20 years. I started with page 1 and read it all. I learned a lot that I didn’t have a clue about, I’m a bit of a nerd so getting into the science behind it was really fascinating to me. I still use some of the recipes and a lot of the techniques learned from the book. But definitely start at page 1 and really try to soak in what you’re reading and put it into practice and you will be a better q’er.
