Chili dogs in the dutch oven...

I get chili dog cravings about twice a year and they must be satisfied. I made these awhile back I usually don't take the time to do this but that particular day I must have had more patience than usual. Everything goes in the dutch oven buns and all.
You spread the inside of the buns with mayo first which keeps them from getting soggy. I don't know how but it works.
Buns come out nice and toasted.
Put the dog in the bun your chili, onions and cheese and bacon. Set up the oven to run at 350 for 45 minutes and you're good to go!

    I used a do diaper..

That mayo might do the same thing to the bun as it does to the surface of a steak and fish to help it bark up somewhat.

Yet another reason to choose mayo as your last and only condiment.

I don't know why I did this to myself. I just checked the fridge I have dogs and buns but no chili in the house.
I will see if the craving passes otherwise it's off to the store for a can of Hormel with beans!

I agree with Mr. Bones! Although the Moonbeam always takes a small can of Hormel, and mixes it with a small can of Wolf. Kinda our go-to cheap chili. Dang good too.

Chili dogs are in my top 10 favorite eats and those look fantastic. Definitely on the todo list for me.
