    Getting ready for 1st cook

I got the 10" Deep 5 qt last week and getting ready for tomorrow to do first Dutch oven bake. I found my 13" pizza stone so I will use it as a base in the weber kettle to do the bake. I got red raspberries and blueberries today for the filling and Im trying to find my cobbler recipe for the dough part. I will post tomorrow what ever I end up with and try and get a few good pictures to share.

smarkley and others, Kind of a silly but all recipes for baking use a preheated oven. For the cobbler should I preheat the dutch oven before putting in the dough and filling?

You can if you want to... but I dont think it is necessary

The coals will heat it up real fast

It heats fast. If you need melted butter in there first that is good for preheating.....

Started the cobbler. Looked at so many recipes for dough I ended up using

          1 1/2 c flour
          1 1/4c sugar
          3t. baking powder
          1 1/2t. salt
          1 1/8c milk

          1 bag raspberrier
          1 bag blueberries
          some sugar

          Got 25 coals ready

          oiled pan
put pizza stone on grill put 9 coals on bottom and rest on top
put in 1 1/2 sticks melted butter in

          mixed dough
poured dough over butter and poured fruit over dough.

set timer to 15 mins to rotate lid

When I took off lid to put in dough pizza stone split down the middle

gardenfish did the stone break because of the heat or the weight of the dutch oven?

merrittcb I believe it was probably cracked. It was at least 20-25 years old.

Jon Solberg The pizza stone was about 25 years old so no crying here. It got it use and good times were had with it. As far as the cobbler..............here you go

Have not tasted it yet, but by looks alone , we are calling this first time a huge success
