    Do you like harissa?

I've just discovered this condiment recently. I used it with mayo for broiled salmon and it was very good. Tonight I'll try it with roasted carrots.

"Ubiquitous in Tunisian, Libyan, Algerian, and Moroccan pantries, harissa is a paste of red chilies blended with olive oil and spices, such as coriander and caraway. It can be lip-searingly hot or barely tingly, twangy with lemon or vinegar or subtly smoky, loose and salsa-like or a thick, chunky paste. Chilies arrived in North Africa around the 16th century, and since then, harissa has been the region’s chief method of preserving them."

Thanks for the link. I'll have to make some next year. I also want to try some other store bought brands in the meantime. The one I bought isn't very hot by my standards.

Big time! Try making a North African stew that has some in it. Forget what they call it - maybe "tagine".

It's a cooker AND a dish. I absolutely love it!

mmmMMMMmmm. Love Chicken Tagine. So delicious. I love the look of a tagine, but most of them are too small for entertaining, which is what I would use it for.

Both. It is a cooker, but I've seen it where the word is used to describe a recipe as well, i.e., Chicken Tagine:

It’s not like I’ve been living under a rock, but I’ve never heard of the stuff. It sounds fascinating. One more thing to broaden our culinary experiences with.

I was beginning to think I had met her and forgot? Never used it, will have to explore.

These carrots with harissa and creme fraiche were great.
