I didn't check it. I'm not sure if I would be able to get a bead on the grate with the laser probe. Next time I'll try. If that doesn't work, maybe I'll put a cast iron trivet on just to test. Now you've got me curious, too.
I know some of the reviews say they got knockoffs. Mine looks exactly like the photos on the Vortex web site, is non-magnetic, and the enclosed literature all looks legit. I chose Amazon because I got free same-day shipping from Prime. Ordered Saturday morning, cooked wings Sunday.
