Does method of kneading affect your bread?

Kneading method will affect the dough like whisking affects egg whites. If you lightly stir with a fork you'll have an egg white omelet few large bubbles. If you use a mixer you will end up with many small bubbles like a meringue. With dough hand mixing will incorporate larger irregular bubbles so a slightly more open crumb. A machine will do a more thorough job and the bubbles will be smaller so you'll get a more uniform tighter crumb. Not to say one method is superior just different.
