Beef Back Rib / Butcher Shop Beef Rib

I saw these yesterday, right next to some short ribs. They were 99 cents a pound, but looked just like the short ribs (I don't know why I didn't take a picture of the actual ribs). I figured for that price they were certainly worth a try. I cooked them in the oven to about 205. They tasted just like short ribs but maybe a little fattier. I never saw them before. Were they mis- priced?

Do you have a picture of the ribs themselves?

No. But they look just like short ribs.

Who cares what they are at 99 cents per pound. If they ate good that’s what matters! 🤣

Interesting, because beef back ribs are supposed to be the ribs cut from the rib roast. But these sound like plate short ribs

We're the bones flat or curved? Did one end have a knuckle looking end to it?

Ptrbve for sure beef back ribs. Usually the have very little meat, even have the bones shining through.

I have a butcher shop near me that charges close to that for beef back ribs (or whatever the ribeye comes off). Doubt it's a misprint.

The ribs I bought are pretty much what you described from the couple of times I cooked them. Very heavy after a few ribs...but good, almost like brisket.

Yes. I had to work a bit to get the meat but it was surprisingly filling.
