I have a lot of trouble getting full packer briskets up here in Vermont. Does anyone know of good on-line sources where I can order full packers? What brands does everyone prefer?

Do you have a Costco or Sam's Club close? or semi-close? You can usually get decent deals at those places.
Wait... I just checked, there is a Sam's Club about 30 miles from you... give em a call...

Here in TEXAS we have HEB food stores. They consistently have the best prices on brisket. I needed 2 foran upcoming party. HEB had select brisket packers for $2.98. 2 days later I shopped Wal Mart and found Same price and select only. I returned to HEB prepared to buy select brisket at $2.98. They had several PRIME brisket packers for reg price of $2.98. I bought a 14 & a 10 pounder.

The HEB in this Texas town closed years ago. Got some nice Choice at Wal-Mart right now, all over 14 pounds.

I buy my packers from a local butcher, we have several around here. I have also purchased them from Sam's and Costco for a little less. The last packer was from Restaurant Depot and a quick search shows there is one in Albany, NY. Its a great resource for all kinds of products. They have one problem, you have to have a business license or tax ID to get in, but if you are a member of the Kansas City Barbeque Society you get a free pass to Restaurant Depot and that is how I got in.
Good luck

Yeah, Costco is hit or miss on whole packers. Sometimes I'll see them and sometimes only flats. The flats have been at $8.99/lb for a while now, while the packers were $6.99/lb. Luckily there's the one small market that always seems to have a couple of whole packers at $4.99/lb - but I need to be able to use 13-14 lbs. Since I bought an 11-lb pork belly to make bacon from them the other day, I'm starting to get to know the butchers.
