Patio Steak ??

    Patio Steak ??

    My local grocery store sells these steaks called "Patio Steaks" Evidently they are a by-product of the ribeye. When the store has them I buy a bunch and freeze them. They thaw quick and are convenient to have for a fast meal. These steaks are also very tender, quite delicious and very reasonable.

    Has anyone else heard of these cuts? I am sure there are many names for the same cut. I only discovered these maybe two years ago. Quite a gem, as the store is about 3 blocks from the house. I just call them mini rib eyes.

    What you got is better than a standard patio steak. I had seen them before but looked them up just to make sure I was right. Patio steaks are generally flank steaks cut down. You have something different. It looks delicious.

      Indeed it was delicious.I think different stores and butchers have different names for different cuts of meat. This store is in the middle of a residantial neighborhood with minimal parking and serves many people that don't have a car. Service is on a first name basis. A rare thing these days.

    Could they be mis-cuts or end cuts when cutting steaks off a primal??

    Were those grates cold when you started to sear?

    Those are rib steaks without the extra cap piece. Nothing to complain about there.

    ^ Almost.

    It's a top blade steak from the chuck in the shoulder blade area. Delicious. Close to a flat iron steak.
