    BBQ Baked Beans

    We’re having a party next week. My recipe for baked beans (Malcolm Reed) calls for adding pulled pork. I’ve made the recipe before and really like it. However, my freezer has No pulled pork in it. Any ideas what I can use as a substitute?

    I am smoking a pork butt for the party but my wife wants to serve the pulled pork without reheating. I thought about trying to finish the pork early but I hate cutting it close. Thoughts?

        What else is handy, there at home? Almost any smoked meat contributes nicely to a pot of baked beans;

        Ideas:
        Pork chops, or loin. Ribs, too! Got any leftovers in yer freezer?
        Brisket, chuck, ground chuck, ground bison, Leave us not fergit hot breakfast sausage, in th mix
        Chunked, or pulled yardbird thighs, boneless, skinless breasts...

        Another way roun th mulberry bush, if ya jus gotta have pulled pork, but are worried by time constraints, is hit yer fave local BBQ, git a pound, or whatever ya need pulled pork. Even grocery stores have it here.

        Make sure, throw in a heapin T, or even 2, (not sure how many mouths yer feedin), of bacon grease in yer beans, even if no pork is utilized...

        I'll go try find Malcom's receipt, an peruse it, to see where he's headin; love dat guy!

        I think last I looked, he had multiple baked bean vids up on youtube...

          Thanks Bones. I never thought about going to a bbq joint and buying pulled pork. Great idea. The recipe is called Smoked Baked Beans. It turned out really good the 1st time I made it.
          I thought about hot dogs to, which I really like in beans, but my wife, not so much.
          I like the bacon grease idea too!

          My pleasure, Amigo!

          Sometimes, ya jus gotta find a way to make things happen, based on circumstances...
          Note, ya can always smoke th bejeebers outta them hot dogs, mebbe th missus will like em better?
