Whiskey BBQ Sauce Recipe - a question.

    Whiskey BBQ Sauce Recipe

Tennessee whiskey is the key to this delicious BBQ sauce recipe, a perfect complement to countless BBQ and grilling main dishes. Aged corn whiskeys have a wonderful sweet vanilla flavor that truly shines in BBQ sauce and we keep the other ingredients to a minimum to showcase the complexity of flavor whiskey provides.

I am confused. Which is normal, I ain't all that bright.
Recipe calls for 2 cups of Bourbon, but it looks like on 1.5 cups are used. I have to assume the unused .5 cup is for the individual preparing said sauce?

    2 cups Bourbon

    1) Pour 1 cup of whiskey into a saucepan. Bring the saucepan to a boil and reduce the liquid to about 2 tablespoons.
    2) Add 1/2 cup of the whiskey and the other ingredients. Simmer over a low heat for 30 minutes and reduce it by about 1/3.

Just drink the remainder of the whiskey............all will be well!

After typing the above, I decided to actually go and read the link you referenced. And I quote" Method

    1) "Taste the whiskey to make sure it is up to your standards. Pour 1 cup of whiskey into a saucepan and set aside the remaining whiskey. Bring the saucepan to a boil and reduce the liquid to about 2 tablespoons. Don't let the alcohol flame. Taste the unused whiskey to make sure it hasn't gone bad.

    2) Add 1/2 cup of the whiskey and the other ingredients. Simmer over a low heat for 30 minutes and reduce it by about 1/3. Use it immediately or bottle it and keep it in the refrigerator for a month or more. Drink the remaining whiskey".

Now, go read the last sentence of item (2)!
