Onion Allergy KC Classic Sauce

My wife has an allergy to onions. I love this recipe, is there any was to not use the onion and get the result??? she can have onion powder but not a whole onion...weird I know but it is wathe it is.....any suggestions???

1 tablespoon of onion powder is roughly equal to 1 medium onion (so says the internet), which is what the recipe calls for. I've never made this recipe with onion powder to know how it compares.

I second the onion powder. It won't make that much of a difference IMO.

Also, you could strain the onions out. I do that about half the time when I make this sauce.

It might be something in the juice that affects her since she's bothered by fresh onion and not dried onion.

Is she also allergic to shallots? May be worth a shot.
