BBQ vs Grillin

My personal thoughts are I'm not eating "BBQ" if I have a steak or a burger. So based on this, I consider grilling the hot & fast end of it.

"BBQ" to me is low & slow. Pulled pork, brisket, ribs- I'm eating "BBQ".

It drives me nuts when I see flyers at work for "Lunchtime BBQ!- Join us for burgers, hot dogs & chips this Monday from 11:30-1:30 in the employee parking lot".... But this is simply my personal feelings, I am not necessarily right.

In South Africa we predominantly grill, we call it "braaiing" using wood or charcoal. The preference being wood. Very few people cook the indirect way. So I'm of the opinion that BBQ is the indirect low and slow and grilling is hot and fast.

Another passing thought ... BBQ seems to be mostly associated with sauces and rubs ... grilling not so much.

I somewhat agree with Rod . But mostly, I don’t care what it’s called, Let’s Eat!
