Yeah, the first effort lacked in the ways you noted, also because you really need the peppers and pickled slaw to sell a Banh Mi. They were tasty, but not at all noteworthy.

I'm not giving up yet, but that's going onto the back of the grill for a bit. I've got a rib-off to win. Or at least place.

I decided to give this a try this weekend. It was outrageous. I love a good Banh Mi and this was one of the best, certainly the best I have made. I followed it to the "T" except that my local store was out of cilantro so I grabbed parsley from the garden. Everyone go try this it is awesome!!!!!

The king of sandwiches IMO. One year I planted a bahn mi garden. I grew Jalapenos, cucumbers, carrots, daikon, and cilantro. Then I made aioli and sriracha from scratch. Meanwhile my sister raised the pork. The only thing I did not do was make the bread myself.

That's what I call dedication to a sandwich! BTW, got the sriracha recipe?

I made this on Sunday, and it was insanely good. However, I made some bao instead of regular bread, but the pork belly's flavor was amazing, it was a crowd favorite. Thanks for this great recicpe!

a crutched rib produce fall off the bone easy pull bones for the rib sandwich, but I wouldn't cut to less than half a rack. Ribs are all surface area already.
