I stumbled across this while wandering around the net.

Looks like more if a history book. For $1.99 Kindle edition, I may give it a shot.

I have it. It's more of a memoir, not really a cookbook. I got through a couple chapters and lost interest. But other people have really liked it, and if you don't, it was only a couple bucks.

Kindle Deals has some worthwhile titles that pop up now and again. I picked up a couple from ATK for $2-$3.

Being a lover of just about anything historical (except my age), this looks appealing. For $1.99 it's worth a look see....I think this says it all....

What I’ve seen of the guy he deals with real historic cooking, 18th & 19th century cooking. He knows his business, excellent cook & historian.

The author was featured, iirc, on The Sporkfull podcast a few months back. It really sounded like an interesting book.

BBQ as good as it got in Abilene was "Harold's" some years back. He did something with beans that I have never seen since (or before) and that was put a lot of sugar in pintos. I just didn't care for his beans. Everything else was great.

Not bbq-related, but that sounds like the pinto beans at Bojangles'. Sweet pinto beans... barf!!!

I put some brown sugar in part of a batch of pintos I cooked a couple of weeks ago. They were great.
