Low & behold that was easy. My phone had the Amazon Kindle app as bloatware that I never used. I logged into my Amazon account right from it, searched, found the book and bought with 1 click. Easy peasy.

    Thanks Dew!

I love Jacques Pepin! I love watching his "Essential Pepin" show on PBS. Question- I do not own a Kindle or a tablet of any sort- just a smartphone and a laptop (Android & Windows, respectively). Does this download work as a general PDF for either of these, or is it in some special format? For the price of a Coke I'd love to have his book.

Well I'm late to the party! Thank-you Dewesq55. I've run the Kindle app from the Mac App Store on both Mavericks and Yosemite. No problems to date.

And since it seems that I misread your question, the answer is "Yes, the Kindle for Mac app will work on Macbook Air."

It's absolutely my pleasure. I'm glad I found it. Posting it here was the first thing I thought about (except for thinking how I just paid $5.99 yesterday and today it's $1.99, lol).
