    Problem with Weber gaser. Suggestions?

    My brother called me to inform me that my parents grill at their vacation place wasn't getting proper gas flow and was cooking very cool. Now I was just up there the weekend prior and it was working fine. His buddy who was with him is an engineer and he couldn't pinpoint the problem. This is a 10-12 year old Weber 3 burner Spirit. The only thing that makes sense to me is the hose running from the tank to the burners.

    I am going up there this evening and will have a chance to check it out firsthand.

    Anybody have any thoughts or suggestions?

I have a 48" Lang Deluxe smoker, Rec-Tec pellet smoker,1 Weber Genesis 330, 1 Weber Performer (blue), 2 Weber kettles (1 black and 1 Copper), 1 26" Weber kettle, a WSM, 8 Maverick Redi Chek thermometers, a PartyQ, 2 SnS, Grill Grates, Cast Iron grates, 1 ThermoPop (orange) and 2 ThermoPens (pink and orange) and planning on adding more cooking accessories. Now I have an Anova sous vide, the Dragon blower and 2 Chef alarms from Thermoworks.

      I am mechanically illiterate. I don't know what that is or what it does. Fortunately I know how to use Google. It looks like it's part of the hose that connects the tank to the burners.

    I have a genesis silver that is about 9 years old. If you turn the tank on with the burners on, it will restrict the gas flow. My wife would call me complaining every other week that the grill was out of fuel. Turn off the tanks, turn on the burners, and wait 2 minutes. Turn burners off, and open the tank valve slowly. There is likely nothing wrong with the grill, as I am patiently waiting for mine to die, but it won't.

      Well, I just tried firing up the grill. Like you said, it's fine.

      My brother's buddy really likes to cook but I don't think he has a gas grill. I know he has a kettle and a cheap pellet cooker. But I think that's it.

      Chalk this one up to user error.
